Regnal Name Proclaimed!
The new regnal name will be Marie-Adélina.
Regnal names, sometimes referred to as reign name, is a name chosen by monarchs during their reigns. In many cases, the regnal name is simply their forenames. However, some monarchs throughout history have chosen other regnal names – either a middle name or adopted another name. Queen Victoria of England was born Alexandrina Victoria, while her great-grandson George VI (father of the present British monarch) was named Albert at birth.
The Princess chose the names in honor of two former royal consorts of Haiti: Queen Marie-Louise (wife of Henri I) and Empress Adélina (wife of Faustin I).
The new regnal name will go into effect immediately. Meanwhile, all coinage issued beginning next year will bear the new name.
