Bernadine Casseus Scholarship

Named after Bernadine ‘Mother Kiki’ Casseus, the scholarship aims to educate, equip, and empower trans* individuals who aspire for higher education. This competitive award is open to qualified trans* part- or full-time students accepted in a culinary arts, hospitality, and/or tourism program at an accredited institution. Applicants must be a US citizen or a permanent US resident, and must contribute to the diversity of their college’s student body and experience. They also must demonstrate they have overcome an impediment to success in higher education. This scholarship awards one student up to $1,000 (2019) and will be honored at the annual Rochester Black Pride’s Trans Brunch reception.
